This will be one of the greatest and most remarkable treks of your life. A challenging but unforgettable hike, a personal challenge shared with the friendly **Portugueses em Viagem** group. The desert offers a unique landscape, and when explored on foot, you have the chance to hear absolute silence, navigate endless horizons, walk among towering dunes dancing with the wind, and sleep under a starry sky while listening to the stories of local nomads who accompany us on this unique adventure.
This expedition is physically demanding, a test of personal endurance in one of the most inhospitable regions on the planet. You will push your personal limits and experience the ultimate freedom that only the desert can offer. Limited spots available.

- Take a photo at the famous "Timbuktu" sign and visit the Zagora Souk.
- Discover the Islamic Library of Tamegroute, home to ancient manuscripts and religious texts.
ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Marrakesh
Arrive in Marrakesh. Transfer to your accommodation in the center of the Medina, near the legendary Djem-el-Fna square. Enjoy an in-person Orientation & Safety Briefing, followed by a Welcome Dinner. Spend the night exploring the lively Djem-el-Fna, where snake charmers, magicians, storytellers, and boxers entertain locals and travelers alike. Overnight in Marrakesh.
Day 2: Marrakesh - Telouet - Ait Ben-Haddou
After breakfast, depart at 8 AM toward the Sahara Desert. Cross the stunning Atlas Mountains to reach Telouet, a magical location on the original caravan route from Black Africa and the Sahara. Visit the breathtaking Telouet Kasbah before continuing to Ait-Ben-Haddou (3h), Morocco’s most beautiful Kasbah and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the Kasbah on foot and witness a memorable sunset. Overnight in Ait-Ben-Haddou.
Day 3: Ait-Ben-Haddou - Atlas Mountains - Todra Gorge
After breakfast, travel towards Skoura Palm Grove, cross the Valley of Roses, and visit the impressive Dades and Todra Gorges (8h). This marks the western edge of the Sahara Desert, framed by the Atlas Mountains. The landscape is arid yet stunning, with lush valleys contrasting with rugged mountains. Take a 5 km trek through the fertile Todra region before spending the night in a local guesthouse in the Atlas Mountains.
Day 4: Todra - Merzouga - Sahara Desert
Leave the Atlas Mountains behind and enter the Sahara Desert (5h). The end of the road won’t stop us as we climb onto camels to reach our desert camp next to the Great Dune, the largest in the world. The desert people will welcome us with a traditional dinner. Watch the magical sunset and gaze at an incredibly starry sky. Overnight in the desert.
Day 5: Sahara Desert - Trekking - Rissani
Wake up early for a 20 km / 6h trek in the desert, a challenging physical feat under the scorching sun, conquering the world’s largest dunes in one of the most beautiful and inhospitable landscapes on the planet. Return to the camp for rest. In the afternoon, depart for Rissani, a town untouched by tourism. Explore its vibrant souk and experience the traditional Hammam. Overnight in Rissani.
Day 6: Rissani - Black Desert - Nkob
After breakfast, travel to Nkob (5h), crossing the Black Desert, a remarkable lunar-like rocky landscape. Enjoy a 1-hour trek to the “Portuguese Prison” in the Black Desert before continuing to Nkob for the night.
Day 7: Nkob - Zagora - Tamegroute - Zagora
After breakfast, head to Zagora (3h) through the Draa River Valley, the largest in Morocco. Visit the famous Date Souk (known for the world’s best dates) and take a photo at the famous “Timbuktu” sign. Continue to Tamegroute to explore the legendary Islamic Library, home to ancient manuscripts and religious texts. Overnight in Zagora.
Day 8: Zagora - Marrakesh
A full day dedicated to the long return journey to Marrakesh, crossing the Atlas Mountains again (8h). The rest of the afternoon is free to explore Marrakesh at your leisure. Farewell Dinner (not included). Overnight in Marrakesh.
Day 9: Marrakesh - End of the Trip
After breakfast, transfer to Marrakesh Airport and end of the expedition.
